How to Apply for English Language Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS)

The Swinburne English Language Centre offers ELICOS programs that prepare you for success in your TAFE or University course. Study at our English Language Centre to meet the condition of your offer and you can gain direct entry to your Swinburne diploma or degree program.

English language programs are offered at a variety of levels, so students can enter the course best suited to their needs to reach the English language level required.

If you wish to undertake further studies at Swinburne after your English language course, follow the steps on How to Apply for a Swinburne TAFE, Undergraduate or Postgraduate Coursework program.

On the application form, you will be asked 'Do you intend to undertake English language studies at Swinburne?', tick the 'Yes' box and complete the section below, indicating when you wish to start and how many weeks of ELICOS training you wish to undertake.

If you just wish to improve your English, follow the steps below.

Step 1.

Review the English Language Programs available. Choose the course and number of weeks you require for General English study by looking at the entry requirements.

Step 2.

Download and fill out the Application Form (PDF 80KB). Attach certified copies of any IELTS or TOEFL test results.

Step 3.

Step 4.

If your application is successful, Swinburne will send you an offer package - then you can follow the steps to accept your offer.

Note: you may extend your ELICOS course provided you meet visa regulations.
