Homestay Conditions.
1. A minimum of ten working days must be allowed for suitable homestay
accommodation to be arranged.
2. Accommodation, meals, electricity, gas and water costs are included
in the costs. Students will usually prepare their own
breakfast and lunch from ingredients from their homestay
kitchen.
The homestay provider will provide a hot dinner every night. Part homestay
does not include meals, guests buy their own food and
prepare their own meals using the hosts kitchen.
3. Full homestay costs range from A$180 to $220 per week depending on
the quality of the accommodation. Part homestay costs
range from $120 to $150 per week. The rates charged
by your host are listed on the hosts
profile.
4. Due to the limited number of suitable homestays, Swinburne International
does not guarantee that every applicant will be placed
in a homestay upon arrival.
5. Initial stay in a homestay is four weeks minimum.
6. Upon arrival, a bond and 2 weeks’ rent must be paid. The bond
is a deposit that is refundable at the end of your
stay if there are no outstanding telephone bills or property damage.
The bond
is a once-only payment
and you will be given a receipt for the payment. You
will also receive a receipt for
each rent payment you make. You must keep all your
receipts.
7. A minimum of 14 days notice must be given to the homestay provider
prior to leaving the homestay.
8. All costs of personal telephone calls made by the student are payable
by the student.
We recommend that students use mobile
phones or a pre-paid phone card available from newsagents.
9. In most homestay homes smoking is not permitted. If you do not indicate
on your booking form that you smoke, it is likely that you will be allocated
to a non-smoking homestay.
10. Upon your arrival at your homestay accommodation, you must sign
an agreement with your homestay provider.
