Swinburne International Year-End Closure 2007

Seasons Greetings from Swinburne International

Swinburne International will be closed over the University holiday period from 2pm on Friday 21 December 2007 and will re-open at 9am on Wednesday 2 January 2008.

All faxes and emails sent during the Christmas closure will be replied to after 2 January 2008 when staff return to the office.

Swinburne Student Graduation Ceremonies

2007 Graduation Ceremonies

The final round of international graduation ceremonies for 2007 will be held in December at the Hawthorn Town Hall:

Thursday 20 December 2007 12.00pm

2008 Graduation Ceremonies

If you are a student in your final semester of study, and wish to participate in the first round of graduations for 2008, please submit your application to graduate by 20 December 2007.

Orientation Hosts Needed for 2008

Be a Swinburne International Orientation Host!Swinburne International is currently inviting current international students from all campuses to be involved in next year's Orientation program.

The Orientation dates for Semester 1, 2008 are as follows:

Briefing sessions will be conducted a week before Orientation – the dates will be confirmed shortly.

Just email siactive@swin.edu.au and provide your full name, student ID number, email address, your campus, mobile contact and the campus you are able to assist: Hawthorn, Prahran or Lilydale.

All volunteers will receive a certificate of appreciation, an exclusive Orientation t-shirt and lunch. You'll also get to come along to the Welcome Party at the Hawthorn campus.

So gather a group of friends and get more out of your university experience – join us in welcoming new international students to Swinburne!

FREE LAS Refresher Course in February 2008

Swinburne's Language and Academic Skills (LAS) Unit will be conducting a FREE Academic Language & Learning Course from 11 - 15 February 2008 at the Hawthorn campus.

Revise existing skills and learn new ones, to help you do well in Swinburne in 2008! Apply early – download an application form and submit by email to mridsdale@swin.edu.au or drop it off at TD345.

Learn More about the Swinburne Library – Lunchtime Information Sessions at the Hawthorn Campus

Need some help with finding your way around the library, and accessing its many facilities?

Come along to the following lunchtime information sessions at the Swinburne Library. Our friendly staff will take you on a tour of the library, guide you through some basics like finding books and online reserve articles, as well as show you how to access facilities like computers, printing, and photocopying. No bookings needed – just turn up.

Swinburne Information Centre (SIC) and Swinburne International Reception – Late Opening Hours

The Swinburne Information Centre (SIC) and Swinburne International (SI) front counter has extended its opening hours during the enrolment/re-enrolment period.

From December 2007 to February 2008, the SIC (including the cashier) and SI front counter at ALL campuses will be open until 6pm every THURSDAY only, on the following dates:

From 6 December - 21 December 2007 Every Thursday until 6pm
From 24 January 2008 - 28 February 2008 Every Thursday until 6pm

OSHC Worldcare: Holiday Credit

OSHC WorldcareGoing back home for the holidays? You may be eligible to apply for Holiday Credit on your OSHC Worldcare policy.

If you leave Australia for more than 30 continuous days, you can extend the expiry date on your policy by the number of days you were out of the country.

You must have a valid OSHC Worldcare policy in order to be eligible to apply for Holiday Credit on your policy. Please note that you must apply for Holiday Credit on your policy within 30 days of returning to Australia.

To apply, take your passport to your on-campus OSHC Worldcare representative. If you are eligible for Holiday Credit, the representative will submit your details to OSHC Worldcare to extend your policy for the time you were out of Australia, and a new card with a new expiry date will be issued to you.
